REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant wishing to apply for this job must meet the following qualifications;
- General education and Training Certificate (GETC) Grade 9 (Std 7).
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
The applicant must have the following skills and competences
- Must have appropriate experience in laundry and linen environment.
- Must have ability to work public holidays and overtime when required.
- Must have ability to deal with diversity in culture and attitudes.
- Must have ability to work under pressure, perform physically demanding tasks and to handle heavy objects.
- Must have good numerical skills.
- Must have knowledge of and the ability to interpret the Western Cape Government Linen Management Policy.
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of laundry and linen policies and Hygiene and safety standards.
- Must have good communication skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have to implement the following duties but not limited to:
- Supervision and control of the daily operations of the laundry section.
- To supervise and record of dispatched linen from the linen bank to the hospital wards.
- Supervision of laundry processing and maintenance services.
- To check and monitor condition of laundry machine equipment.
- Supervise and monitor cleaning of laundry equipment in line with environmental health and safety standards.
- Supervision of human and physical resources.
- To guide and mentor staff on the provision of laundry services.
- To conduct performance reviews of staff on the Staff Performance system (PERMIS).
- To assist with in service training of staff.
- Effective quality control and supervision of the laundry services.
- To perform pre-condemning of linen and report irregularities to the Line Manager.
- To implement infection control and waste management in the laundry unit.
- To ensure effective control and effective management of data/stats in the laundry unit.
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and- proper linen handling.
